50th Anniversary Celebration

Ecological nutritional drinks, electric car-only city centers, and AI-assisted creation were all ideas conceived over 50 years ago! Angelo Dalle Molle dedicated his life to improving the quality of life through his humanity, creativity and resources. Still relevant today, Dalle Molle’s vision and values are too often overlooked.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Dalle Molle Foundation, several events took place from 2019 to 2021 in honour of its founder and with the goal of emphasizing humanity in technological advancements.

The celebrations were organized b the four Dalle Molle research institutes (Idiap Research Institute, IDSIA, ISSCO, and Mediplant), as well as the University of Geneva’s CUI and the University of Fribourg. Researchers shared testimonies and conducted workshops that aimed to incorporate a visionary perspective and focus on quality of life into their work.

Other Projects

While targeting quality of life, development of disruptive AI applications also requires that its technology, as well as the products and services supported by it, provide enough guarantees that it meets all international and national AI regulations, possibly country and application specific, also properly validating operational, privacy, and ethical aspects.

The Dalle Molle Foundation, in close collaboration with its associated research institutions (IDSIA, ISSCO and Idiap), and active participation of several industrial partners, is developing projects to develop and exploit advanced software tools to assist companies for the application of the mechanisms of “Certification of Conformity” of AI-involved products to the maintenance of the afore mentioned guarantees.

Ideally, projects should aim at the assisting, possibly automating, auditability and certification of AI-based systems, based on general quality of life indicators, as well as International AI regulations.
